Thekkaddy Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary extend across 777 sq. km is enclosed by the artificial lake formed by Mullaperiyar Dam at Thekkady in Idukki Dt., Kerala is a Tiger Reserve since 1978. Thekkaddy is famous for Trekking, elephant ride and boating Wild animals such as Tigers, elephants Nilgiri langur. , bison, bear, boar, leopards and birds like herons, darters, kingfishers, egrets and Malabar grey hornbill can be seen here.
